A group operating under the banner of the Delta APC Integrity Forum has called on the national and state leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undertake what it described as a comprehensive audit, review and overhaul of appointments allegedly influenced by former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, following his reported defection from the party to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an open letter addressed to the APC National Chairman, the National Working Committee (NWC), and the Delta State Executive Committee, the forum said the former governorship candidate’s exit from the party had exposed what it termed a network of loyalists occupying strategic positions within party and government structures.
The group, which said it comprises ward chairmen, delegates, women leaders, youth coordinators, grassroots mobilisers and party faithful from Delta North, Delta Central and Delta South Senatorial Districts, argued that the party must act swiftly to protect its internal structures and electoral prospects in Delta State.
“We do not write in anger alone. We write in duty,” the forum stated in the letter dated June 2026.
According to the group, Omo-Agege’s departure from the APC was not the principal concern but rather the influence allegedly retained by individuals appointed during his period of political prominence within the party.
The forum alleged that during his tenure as Deputy Senate President, Omo-Agege used federal patronage and political influence to facilitate appointments into federal agencies, party administrative structures, government boards and advisory positions.
“These appointments were not made on the basis of competence, seniority, grassroots contribution or party merit. They were made on the singular basis of personal loyalty to Omo-Agege himself — loyalty to a man, not to a movement,” the letter stated.
The group further claimed that several individuals occupying APC-linked positions openly celebrated the former deputy senate president’s defection on social media, describing such actions as evidence of divided loyalty.
“They celebrated publicly, cheering the departure of a man from our party as though his humiliation of the APC were a personal victory for themselves,” the forum alleged.
It warned that the continued presence of such individuals within party and government structures could pose what it described as a security and intelligence risk to the APC’s political operations in Delta State.
As part of its demands, the forum called for a full audit of all appointments allegedly influenced by Omo-Agege, mandatory loyalty reviews for appointees linked to him, and the suspension of those found to have publicly endorsed his departure from the APC.
The group also urged the Delta APC leadership to engage the Presidency and relevant federal authorities to facilitate the replacement of federal appointees believed to be aligned with the former APC leader.
In addition, it requested the establishment of a Delta APC Appointments Review Panel comprising representatives from the state’s three senatorial districts, including ward executives, women leaders, youth coordinators and other grassroots stakeholders.
The proposed panel, according to the forum, would be responsible for reviewing appointments connected to Delta State and ensuring that future nominations reflect loyalty, commitment and service to the APC.
Addressing the party’s national leadership, the forum maintained that Delta State remained a viable electoral battleground for the APC but cautioned that victory would be difficult without a united and trusted party structure.
“Delta State is winnable. It has always been winnable for a properly organised, internally coherent political party. But it will not be won with a compromised structure,” the group stated.
The forum concluded by urging the APC leadership to demonstrate that loyalty remains a valued principle within the party and to take decisive steps to strengthen its structures ahead of future elections.
“We stand ready to support, cooperate with and contribute to any process that restores integrity, rewards loyalty and positions the APC for the historic victory that Delta State deserves,” the letter added.
