Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has stepped up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, holding a strategic meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and party executives at the local government and ward levels in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Dafinone, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central in the 2027 election, held the meeting on Monday at the Council Hall, Isiokolo, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, and other party leaders and stakeholders.

The meeting focused on strengthening the APC at the grassroots, mobilising support for the party’s candidates and discussing the Senator’s activities in the National Assembly, as well as his vision and plans for Delta Central if re-elected. Dafinone charged the ward and local government executives to take the programmes and message of the APC to every part of Ethiope East.

He said his office had facilitated various opportunities and interventions across Delta Central, including contracts, pensionable employment, empowerment initiatives and infrastructural development, adding that his doors remained open to constituents and stakeholders.

Earlier, Dafinone met with Chief Love Ojakovo, a prominent APC leader and a former political ally of former Deputy President of the Senate and former APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central, at his residence.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening unity, alignment and cooperation among party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dafinone said the engagement with Ojakovo provided an opportunity to discuss the future of Delta Central and ways of advancing the interests of the people.

“Today, I met with Chief Love Ojakovo at his residence. We had a meaningful and engaging conversation on the future of Delta Central and the steps we must take to advance the interests of our people. I remain committed to listening, engaging and working with our leaders and stakeholders at all levels,” he said.

The meeting was also significant against the backdrop of previous political alignments within the Delta APC, as Ojakovo had been associated with the Omo-Agege camp in Ethiope East before the party’s primary and subsequent consolidation of various structures under the leadership of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Reflecting on the meeting with the APC executives, Dafinone said: “Earlier today, I engaged the leadership of the APC LGA and Ward Executives of Ethiope East in a strategic meeting in Isiokolo. We discussed measures for effective grassroots mobilisation and how best to strengthen our collective efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

He added: “I appreciate our party leaders, executives, and stakeholders across Ethiope East for their continued commitment and support. Together, we will build a stronger APC and work for the progress of our people.”

In his remarks, Ogedegbe urged the party executives to see themselves as the pillars of the APC and work collectively with leaders and stakeholders to secure victory for the party’s candidates in 2027. He stressed the importance of unity, commitment and grassroots mobilisation, urging the executives to remain steadfast in building the party in Ethiope East.

The meeting was attended by the APC LGA Chairman, Chief Midwest Iboyetete, Ward Executives and several party leaders and stakeholders, including Chief Godwin Ogbetuor, Chief John Itebu, Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Justin Oberhiri Uloho, Chief Ejemudaro Salubi and Chief Samson Anomi.
