Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday, describing his career in public service as a testament to leadership, resilience and commitment to Nigeria.
Shettima, who was born on September 2, 1966, in Maiduguri, Borno State, clocks 60 on Wednesday.
His official biography records his career progression from banking to public office as Governor of Borno State, Senator for Borno Central and, since 2023, Vice President of Nigeria.
In a goodwill message, Dafinone said he was joining the Vice President’s family, associates and Nigerians across the country to mark the milestone and honour what he described as a life dedicated to public service and national development.
“I warmly felicitate with His Excellency, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the occasion of his 60th birthday,” Dafinone said.
He described Shettima’s journey from the banking profession to the highest levels of government as evidence of “a life of service and responsibility,” highlighting his years as Governor of Borno State and Senator representing Borno Central.
Dafinone particularly commended the Vice President’s leadership in Borno during a period he described as characterised by profound security and socio-economic challenges.
According to him, Shettima’s experience in those difficult circumstances demonstrated “courage, resilience and a willingness to serve the nation in difficult times.”
The Delta Central senator also praised Shettima’s contribution to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly his role in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“At a time when Nigeria requires leadership that is purposeful, inclusive and anchored in the national interest, I am confident that Vice President Shettima’s experience in governance, public administration and economic affairs will continue to contribute meaningfully to our collective efforts to strengthen the economy, deepen national unity and promote sustainable development,” he said.
Dafinone, who spoke on behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central, expressed confidence that the Vice President’s experience would continue to contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening the Nigerian economy and promoting national unity.
He wished Shettima “many more years of good health, wisdom and fulfilment” in the service of the country.
He also prayed for divine guidance and protection for the Vice President, asking God to grant him “strength and sound judgment” in the discharge of his responsibilities.
