The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS South-South Zone, has dismissed reports of the formation of an “Interim Executive Council” for NAPPS Delta State, describing the publication as false and unconstitutional.
In a letter dated 17th August 2026 with reference NAPPS/SSZ/NVP/2026/016, the National Vice President and Zonal President, Hon Ekhosuehi Reuben Ikponmwen, said his attention was drawn to a publication in _The Pointer Newspaper_, Page 5, on Saturday 15th August 2026 by some dissident persons from NAPPS Delta State.
According to the zonal leader, the publication claimed to have established an “Interim Executive Council” to oversee the affairs of NAPPS in Delta State. He said the claim has caused confusion among members and stakeholders.
Hon. Ikponmwen stated categorically that there is no provision for an “Interim Government” or “Interim Executive Council” in the NAPPS Constitution 2017 as amended, which remains the supreme document guiding the association at all levels.
He explained that the constitution clearly outlines the procedures for election, tenure, and succession at National, Zonal, State, and Local Chapter levels, and makes no room for an ad-hoc or interim arrangement outside of those provisions.
The NVP/Zonal President affirmed that NAPPS National and the South-South Zonal Office duly recognise only the constitutionally elected Delta State Executive Council led by Mrs. Young Precious Nwanne as the State Chairman.
He stressed that Mrs. Young’s executive remains the only valid and authentic leadership of NAPPS Delta State, and that all official engagements and correspondence should be channelled through her office.
Hon. Ikponmwen described the claims by the dissident persons as orchestrated, null and void, and said they do not represent the position of NAPPS.
He added that the action was the handiwork of a few individuals acting outside the provisions of the association’s constitution.
In light of the development, the South South Zone has called on the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and the general public to disregard the said publication and any correspondence emanating from any group other than the authentic NAPPS Delta State EXCO.
The letter also reaffirmed NAPPS South South Zone’s commitment to unity, peace, and lawful engagement with government and stakeholders to advance quality education in Delta State and across the entire region.
Copies of the refutation were sent to the National President of NAPPS Nigeria, the National Secretary, Mrs. Young Precious Nwanne, and all State Chairmen in the South South Zone.
The zonal office also appreciated the continued support of the Ministry and partners to the legitimate leadership of NAPPS Delta State.
