Former aspirant for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Thompson Robert-Fuoye, has returned to Burutu to appreciate supporters and stakeholders who stood by him during his political journey, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots politics and people-centered leadership.
The appreciation visit brought together party leaders, stakeholders, and members of his support structure under the leadership of former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Goddey Peter Orubebe.
Also present at the gathering were Chairman of Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, Chief Julius Tarabiri Government; Prime Minister of Tuomo Kingdom, High Chief Mike Loyibo; alongside party faithful and supporters across the constituency.
The meeting, described by observers as a demonstration of political maturity and grassroots engagement, provided an opportunity for reflection following the APC primary election in which Chief Robert-Fuoye contested for the Burutu Federal Constituency seat but did not emerge as the party’s candidate.
Addressing supporters, Chief Robert-Fuoye expressed gratitude for their loyalty, sacrifices, and belief in his vision throughout the campaign period.
“I came back because gratitude is important. The election process may have ended, but our relationship as a political family continues. Leadership should not begin and end during campaigns; it must be sustained through continuous engagement with the people,” he said.
He noted that the support received during the primary election was both inspiring and invaluable, adding that the experience further strengthened his belief in grassroots politics.
“The confidence reposed in me by our people remains one of the greatest motivations for me. Politics is about service, connection, and building trust. That bond remains stronger than ever,” Chief Robert-Fuoye stated.
The former aspirant also called for unity within the APC and urged members to remain committed to strengthening party structures at the grassroots level.
“The success of our party is a collective responsibility. We must continue to work together, support our leaders, and maintain unity for the progress of our communities and the development of Burutu Federal Constituency,” he added.
He further encouraged members to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and other party leaders while sustaining active participation within the party.
The visit equally created room for discussions on community development, political inclusion, and sustaining active participation across communities within Burutu Federal Constituency.
Supporters who attended the meeting commended Chief Robert-Fuoye for personally returning to appreciate them, describing the gesture as uncommon in politics and reflective of humility and people-oriented leadership.
Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, alongside other leaders who spoke during the gathering, emphasized the importance of unity and sustained collaboration among party members.
“Political engagement should remain continuous. Meetings like this help strengthen relationships and reinforce our collective commitment toward the future of Burutu,” Elder Orubebe said.
Chairman of Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, Chief Julius Tarabiri Government, also stressed the need for cohesion among stakeholders.
“Unity remains essential for progress. Our strength lies in working together and sustaining political participation across the constituency,” he noted.
Similarly, High Chief Mike Loyibo, Prime Minister of Tuomo, described the meeting as an important platform for strengthening future political engagement.
“The future of Burutu politics depends on collaboration, inclusiveness, and maintaining strong ties with the grassroots,” he said.
The atmosphere at the event was marked by excitement and renewed optimism as supporters pledged continued solidarity and commitment to the ideals of grassroots development.
For Chief Thompson Robert-Fuoye, the visit was more than a routine political engagement; it was a message of appreciation, loyalty, and a reaffirmation that enduring leadership is built from the grassroots upward.
