The Federal Commissioner representing South-South zone in the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, Alhaji Sadiq Musa has urged the Bayelsa State government to constitute the Bayelsa Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board.

Alhaji Musa who made the call during his familiarization visit to the Creek Haven, Government House, Bayelsa State also urged the government to set up a “Saving Scheme” for Muslims as part of preparations for the 2021 hajj.

The Commissioner said with the constitution of the board, the commission which he represents will have a smooth operation in Bayelsa State.

“I am here just for a singular reason. It is because when I assume office after screening by the Senate and conferment by Mr President, it is expected of me to visit my zone, familiarize with them and move for arrangements of 2021 Hajj.

“Since the Pandemic has cancelled the one of 2020. That’s the reason why I am here to assess the Board’s Office and all other facilities that we can use to kick start the 2021 Hajj.

Alhaji Musa who was received in audience by the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr Duoye Diri, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor commended the State government for the hospitality accorded Muslims so far.

He also congratulated the Bayelsa State Governor, Mr Douye Diri on his victory at the Supreme Court adding the judgment is a victory for the entire people of the State and has put to rest all litigations as regards the Bayelsa State gubernatorial election.

While noting that the litigations constituted a huge setback to the Bayelsa State government, Alhaji Musa urged Governor Douye Diri to settle down, work and remain focused in his determination to aggressively develop the State as well as better the lives of the people.

In a remark, the Governor of Bayelsa State thanked the Federal Commissioner for his familiarization visit and reassured him that the Bayelsa State government will continue to treat everyone equally irrespective of their religious or political affiliations.

The governor also assured that the Bayelsa Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board and others would be constituted especially as the tensions associated with the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic and several other challenges which stirred the government at the face have died down.
