Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed rumours circulating on social media suggesting that he had defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to another political platform.
The governor described the reports as false and urged the public to disregard what he called misleading interpretations being spread online.
Speaking during a video interview that surfaced on Wednesday, Fubara stated clearly that he remains a committed member of the APC and had no intention of leaving the party.
“I know that there’s been a lot of drama in the media, one story and another. I’m a member of the APC and nothing has changed,” the governor said.
He cautioned against relying on social media speculation and personal interpretations of political developments to misrepresent his position.
“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly. I have not gone anywhere,” he added.
Fubara further stressed that his loyalty to the ruling party remains intact, insisting that the collective interest of the APC should take precedence over political rumours and distractions.
“I’m still a member of the APC and I remain a member. Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interests of the party,” he stated.
The clarification comes amid renewed political speculation in Rivers State over alleged internal divisions and reports linking the governor with a possible move to another political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fubara formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in December 2025 after months of political tension in Rivers State.
