Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has become embroiled in a fresh controversy in Edo State following his public exchange with Governor Monday Okpebholo over the aftermath of the Osun State governorship election.
Governor Okpebholo’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, had warned Davido against performing in Edo, declaring that the singer had been “banned” from performing in the state.
But the Edo State Government subsequently disowned the alleged ban, saying Governor Okpebholo had not authorised any such directive.
Chukwu’s statement followed Davido’s criticism of Okpebholo over comments concerning Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, Davido’s uncle.
Davido’s logistics manager, Israel DMW, also rejected the threat, insisting that nobody could prevent the singer from visiting Edo.
