President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and the suspension of three permanent secretaries after the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) uncovered another alleged fake government agency operating from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Aliyu, SAN, disclosed the development after briefing Tinubu on the commission’s continuing investigation into alleged fictitious government agencies.
Aliyu said investigators discovered the National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office, which had allegedly secured office space within the OSGF despite lacking presidential authorisation. He said Nwabueze was allegedly behind the entity and had “active suspected collaborators” within the OSGF.
Tinubu subsequently ordered Nwabueze’s arrest and suspended M.S. Danjuma, Nadungu Gagare and Richard P. Pheelangwah, three permanent secretaries linked to the matter.
The discovery follows the ICPC investigation into the previously exposed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIFC) and other entities allegedly operating without proper government authorisation.
