The DESOPADEC Urhobos Staff Association (DUSA) has showered praises on the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Barrister John Nani Obukowho, following the extension of the commission’s governing board tenure by the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.
In an appreciation message on Tuesday, the association described the tenure extension as a clear affirmation of John Nani’s “visionary leadership, humility and unwavering commitment” to both staff welfare and grassroots development across oil-producing communities in Delta State.
The group said members were proud to identify with the DESOPADEC chairman, noting that his leadership style had brought inclusiveness, fairness and a renewed sense of belonging among workers, particularly within the Urhobo ethnic nationality.
Speaking on behalf of the association, DUSA President, Comrade Uwisike Samuel, said the chairman’s continued stay in office would further strengthen the commission’s developmental drive and staff confidence.
“The extension of your Board for service is a resounding vote of confidence in your visionary leadership, humility and unwavering commitment to staff welfare and grassroots development across the mandate area,” the statement read.
The association further commended John Nani for what it described as his “open-door governance” and genuine concern for the welfare of workers and the Urhobo people.
“Under your leadership, DUSA has witnessed openness, fairness and sincere concern for the Urhobo people. You lead by example, and we are proud to serve under you,” Comrade Samuel stated.
DUSA also highlighted what it called landmark moments under Nani’s administration, including the introduction of the first-ever Urhobo Day celebration and end-of-year Christmas gifts for Urhobo staff members.
The association prayed for renewed strength, wisdom, good health and divine grace for the DESOPADEC chairman as he begins another tenure in office.
“As you continue this tenure, we pray for renewed strength and greater achievements. DUSA stands firmly with you. Congratulations Sir, more grace for more impact,” the statement added.
The tenure of the DESOPADEC Governing Board was on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, extended by one year, following approval by the Delta State House of Assembly, at the request of Governor Oborevwori.
