The chairman of Sapele Local Government Council in Delta State, Chief Bright Abeke, has vowed to mobilise massive votes for Senator Ede Dafinone in the 2027 general elections, declaring that his re-election is crucial to securing a ranking senator for the Urhobo nation and attracting greater development to Delta Central Senatorial District.
Abeke expressed confidence that Sapele would deliver one of the highest votes for Dafinone, insisting that the senator’s growing popularity, performance and acceptance among constituents would translate into overwhelming electoral support.
The council chairman made the declaration on Sunday during a reconciliation meeting between Senator Dafinone and former executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) drawn from the eleven wards of Sapele Local Government Area.
The meeting was held at the senator’s residence in Sapele, Delta State.
According to Abeke, returning Dafinone to the Senate for a second term would strengthen his legislative influence, enhance his capacity to attract federal projects and position the Urhobo nation for greater representation in national affairs.
“Dafinone is well-accepted here, and we will ensure his victory. Everyone should reach out to their neighbours and families to support all our candidates. We cannot fight against our own; we must unite and work together to achieve victory,” Abeke declared.
He stressed that, as council chairman, he considered it his responsibility to mobilise party members and voters across Sapele to ensure a resounding victory for Dafinone and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Abeke urged former and serving ward executives to put aside their differences, close ranks and work collectively towards strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, warning that internal divisions could undermine its electoral prospects.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Dafinone emphasised the importance of reconciliation, effective communication and sustained grassroots mobilisation, describing party unity as indispensable to achieving victory in 2027.
The senator urged former executives to remain actively involved in party activities and encouraged members facing challenges to contact his coordinators across the eleven wards for necessary intervention.
“If you encounter any issues, please contact my coordinators in each ward. We are one party, and it would be a mistake to lose the election here in Sapele. Let’s ensure a strong voter turnout; we have the people’s support, and we will succeed,” Dafinone stated.
Highlighting his legislative performance and constituency interventions, Dafinone disclosed that he had facilitated projects in 83 of the 85 wards across Delta Central Senatorial District, reaffirming his commitment to delivering democratic dividends to his constituents.
“I have initiated projects in 83 out of 85 wards. I am dedicated to my role as a senator, and we will win all APC seats. Other parties cannot compete; they lack the necessary structure,” he maintained.
Dafinone further expressed confidence that the APC’s established grassroots network, combined with sustained engagement with party stakeholders, would give the party a decisive advantage over opposition parties in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Ogodo, commended the ongoing reconciliation efforts within the APC and called on former and serving executives to work together to deliver overwhelming victories for all the party’s candidates.
“We must win, and we must do so with a significant margin,” Ogodo declared, stressing that party unity and effective mobilisation would be critical to electoral success.
Similarly, the APC Chairman in Sapele Local Government Area, Mr. Francis Okpigben, assured members of his readiness to address their concerns and resolve grievances capable of creating divisions within the party.
The reconciliation meeting also provided representatives from the eleven wards an opportunity to raise concerns, identify challenges and propose strategies for strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders responded to the issues raised, emphasising the need for inclusiveness, cooperation and renewed commitment to the party’s electoral objectives.
Other prominent party leaders at the meeting included Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief of Staff to Senator Dafinone; Hon. Hero Asagba, APC Sapele Local Government Youth Leader; and several other stakeholders from across the local government area.
