A delegation of Unenurhie community leaders and indigenes has paid a solidarity visit to Olorogun Samuel Adjogbe, PhD, FNSE, at his country home in Evwreni Kingdom, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, apologising for their earlier stance during the dispute over the community’s March 2025 election.
Led by community leader Mr. Oghenekaro Pius, the delegation said its members had been misinformed and misled by the former President of the Unenurhie Community Development Union regarding the conduct of the election.
The visitors pledged renewed loyalty to the community’s peace and development, while affirming their commitment to peaceful coexistence and due process in resolving the post-election court cases.
They also appealed to Olorogun Adjogbe to sustain his support for Unenurhie indigenes, particularly through scholarships and empowerment programmes for unemployed youths.
Responding, Olorogun Adjogbe thanked the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to peace, unity and the welfare of the community.
He said disagreements should be resolved through lawful and constructive means, rather than personal attacks or actions capable of deepening divisions.
“Peace and development must remain our shared priorities. No community can move forward when its people are divided or when disputes are allowed to overshadow the welfare of our youths and families,” Adjogbe said.
He added that he would continue to support initiatives that promote education, youth empowerment and peaceful coexistence in Unenurhie community.
Adjogbe also criticised what he described as attempts by some community leaders to misappropriate communal resources for personal benefit.
He alleged that he had been targeted with blackmail and noted that those involved had later issued a retraction and apology through the media.
“The resources of the community belong to the people. They must be managed transparently and used for the common good, not diverted to serve private interests,” he said.
Adjogbe further urged Unenurhie indigenes to participate actively in the 2027 general elections, calling on them to support All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates across the ballot.
