Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his conferment with the Christian Icon Award by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), describing the recognition as a testament to his leadership and commitment to public service.
The award was presented to Oborevwori during CAN’s 50th anniversary celebration at the National Christian Centre in Abuja, in recognition of his contributions to public service and the Christian values he represents.
In a congratulatory message, Dafinone said the honour reflected the governor’s humility, integrity, compassion and dedication to serving humanity, adding that it was a source of pride to Delta State and the Urhobo Nation.
The senator said Oborevwori’s recognition beyond the state underscored the importance of leadership anchored on peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and the pursuit of collective progress.
“As the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, I am particularly delighted that your leadership continues to attract recognition beyond the boundaries of our state,” Dafinone said.
He added that the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance and the advancement of the people’s aspirations reflected the values expected of responsible and people-oriented leadership.
Dafinone expressed confidence that the award would encourage Oborevwori to sustain the achievements of his administration’s MORE Agenda, strengthen unity among Deltans and continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving lives.
According to the senator, the recognition also carries a responsibility to remain committed to service.
“Indeed, recognition of this nature comes with an even greater responsibility to remain steadfast in the service of God and humanity,” he said.
On behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central, Dafinone wished the governor continued wisdom, good health and strength to lead the state towards greater peace, prosperity and development.
He also prayed that the honour would inspire further commitment to the welfare of Deltans and the advancement of the state.
The congratulatory message follows Oborevwori’s receipt of the Christian Icon Award at CAN’s golden jubilee celebration, an occasion marking five decades of the association’s activities in Nigeria.
