A wedding celebration in Brazil ended in tragedy after a 34-year-old bride was allegedly shot dead by her husband during their wedding reception in Campinas, São Paulo state.
According to international reports, the victim, identified as Nájylla Duenas Nascimento, was killed on Saturday, May 9, shortly after marrying her partner, Daniel Barbosa Marinho, 55.
Authorities said the couple reportedly became involved in a heated argument during the reception, which later escalated into violence.
Witnesses told investigators that relatives quickly removed children from the venue as tensions worsened.
Marinho, described as a member of the Campinas Municipal Guard, allegedly used his service weapon to shoot the bride before fleeing the scene.
Reports further stated that he later returned and opened fire again.
Emergency responders rushed to the venue and attempted to save the victim, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local authorities subsequently arrested the suspect on allegations of femicide, a legal classification used in Brazil for the killing of women because of their gender.
Investigators reportedly recovered ammunition, shell casings, and the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
The Campinas Municipal Guard expressed regret over the incident and said it was cooperating fully with police investigations.
