There are birthdays, and there are milestones that invite not just celebration but reflection. The 66th birthday anniversary of the Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Obukohwo Nani, falls into the latter category.

As family, friends, political associates, admirers and the people of Delta State celebrate him today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, they are not merely marking the passing of another year. They are celebrating a life defined by public service, principled leadership, grassroots politics and an enduring commitment to the development of oil-producing communities.

For over three decades in public life, Olorogun Nani has earned a reputation as a dependable administrator and a leader whose influence extends far beyond the realm of politics. His journey through public service reflects dedication, experience and an unwavering desire to improve the lives of ordinary people.

His record speaks for itself. As a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly representing Ethiope West Constituency, he distinguished himself through effective representation and close engagement with his constituents. His tenure demonstrated that leadership is most meaningful when it remains connected to the people’s aspirations.

His appointment as Commissioner for Environment in the Delta State Executive Council further showcased his administrative capacity. His experience as Executive Director, Finance and Administration of DESOPADEC added another important chapter to his public service career.
