The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Obukohwo Nani, has congratulated the Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, His Royal Majesty Sunday Odogu Okpurhe, Uduaka I, on the occasion of his fourth coronation anniversary.
In a goodwill message on Thursday, Nani described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the reign of the traditional ruler and an occasion for the people of Mosogar Kingdom to reflect on the journey of the kingdom under his leadership.
The DESOPADEC Chairman commended the monarch for providing traditional leadership and guidance to his subjects, particularly in promoting peace, unity and development within the kingdom.
According to Nani, the traditional institution remains an important pillar of community identity and cohesion, with monarchs playing a critical role in preserving culture while encouraging peaceful coexistence and development.
“The fourth anniversary of your coronation is not only a celebration of Your Royal Majesty’s reign, but also an opportunity to acknowledge the important role you continue to play in the peace, unity and development of Mosogar Kingdom,” Nani said.
He described Uduaka I as a monarch whose position places a responsibility on him to continue bringing the people together and providing wise counsel on issues affecting the kingdom.
“Your Royal Majesty, traditional leadership requires wisdom, patience and a deep understanding of the people. I commend you for the leadership you have provided and for your continued commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Mosogar Kingdom,” Nani stated.
Nani also noted the importance of cooperation among traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders in addressing challenges and advancing development across Delta State.
He said the relationship between traditional institutions and other stakeholders remained essential to sustaining peace and strengthening communal bonds.
“The progress of any kingdom depends on the ability of its leaders and people to work together. I therefore encourage the people of Mosogar to continue giving their monarch the support and cooperation required to move the kingdom forward,” he added.
The DESOPADEC Chairman further congratulated the royal family, chiefs, elders, youths, women and the entire people of Mosogar Kingdom on the anniversary, while praying for continued peace and prosperity in the kingdom.
“On behalf of my family, associates and well-wishers, I warmly felicitate with Your Royal Majesty on this special occasion. May your reign continue to be peaceful and progressive, and may God grant you wisdom, good health and strength to lead the people of Mosogar Kingdom for many more years,” Nani said.
He expressed hope that the monarch’s reign would continue to contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Mosogar Kingdom and the advancement of its people.
HRM Sunday Odogu Okpurhe was crowned Ovie of Mosogar Kingdom on August 5, 2022, succeeding the late HRM Samson Okirhioboh Imoyi Omene, Udurhie I.
The Delta State Government subsequently presented the monarch with his staff of office in September 2022, with then-Governor Ifeanyi Okowa urging the people of Mosogar to support the traditional ruler in promoting peace and development.
