Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Obukowho Nani, has congratulated former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, on the occasion of his 68th birthday, describing him as an outstanding statesman, visionary leader and one of the foremost architects of modern Delta State.
In a goodwill message on Tuesday, Nani lauded Ibori for his immense contributions to the political and socio-economic development of Delta State, saying his years in office laid a solid foundation upon which successive administrations have continued to build.
The DESOPADEC Chairman noted that Chief Ibori’s visionary leadership, courage and commitment to good governance transformed the fortunes of the state and positioned Delta as a model of purposeful leadership in Nigeria.
Nani, who hails from Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area, said the people of the council area remain proud of the remarkable achievements of Chief Ibori, an illustrious son of Oghara Kingdom, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of leaders across the state and beyond.
According to him, Ibori’s influence extends beyond politics, having mentored many leaders and contributed immensely to strengthening democratic governance and human capital development.
“Chief James Onanefe Ibori remains one of Delta State’s greatest political icons whose vision, courage and passion for development changed the trajectory of our dear state. His legacy of purposeful leadership continues to inspire many of us in public service,” Nani said.
He described the former governor as a bridge-builder and detribalised leader whose commitment to unity, inclusiveness and grassroots development earned him the admiration of people across political, ethnic and religious divides.
Nani further noted that the shared heritage of Ethiope West Local Government Area makes Ibori’s accomplishments a source of pride for the people of both Oghara and Idjerhe kingdoms, adding that his life demonstrates the impact of visionary leadership anchored on service to humanity.
“As you celebrate your 68th birthday, I join your family, friends, associates and countless admirers in thanking Almighty God for your life of service and remarkable accomplishments. It is my prayer that God grants you continued good health, greater wisdom, strength and many more years of fruitful service to Delta State and our nation,” the DESOPADEC Chairman stated.
