Former Executive Director, Projects, (EDP) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Engr. Samuel Adjogbe, PhD., FNSE, has felicitated with Nigerians on June 12, the nation’s Democracy Day.

June 12 was formerly known as Abiola Day, celebrated in Lagos, Nigeria, and some south-west states of Nigeria.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari had in June 2018 directed that effective 2019, Nigeria’s Democracy Day, marked every May 29 be moved to June 12 to honour Late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR, the winner of the 1993 presidential election.

Adjogbe, in a goodwill message, he personally signed at his Evwreni country home in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, advocated for peace and unity needed to sustain any democratic nation.

According to him: “Nigerians must elevate their contributions and determinations to the process of governance beyond considerations of ethnic, religious, and party sentiments. This is because nation-building thrives on the unity and togetherness of the people.

Adjogbe highlighted the common kindred spirit of renewed hope, faith, love and tenacity which bind all Nigerians as a people, adding that: “Just as it has been said before, we are first Nigerians before we are anything else”.
