Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has celebrated Chief Dr. Ighoyota Amori on his 74th birthday, describing the former political adviser and statesman as a strategic force whose contributions have helped shape the political development and stability of Delta State.

In a birthday message to Amori, Dafinone described him as a “distinguished statesman, consummate political strategist, Pan-Urhobo leader and Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State,” while commending his decades of commitment to public service and the development of the state.

Dafinone said Amori’s political journey had been characterised by courage, resilience, loyalty and an enduring commitment to Delta State, noting that his influence had remained significant since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

“Your remarkable journey in public service and politics has been defined by courage, resilience, loyalty and an enduring commitment to the growth and stability of Delta State,” Dafinone said.

The senator said Amori had, over the years, contributed to the evolution and stabilisation of governance across successive administrations in the state, adding that his political interventions had helped strengthen structures, promote continuity and support effective governance.

He said Amori’s relevance in Delta politics was not simply a product of longevity, but also his ability to remain engaged with political developments and responsive to the aspirations of the people.

“Since 1999, you have remained a prominent force in the political development of Delta State, making significant contributions to the evolution and stabilisation of governance across successive administrations,” Dafinone stated.

The Delta Central senator also highlighted Amori’s role in the affairs of the Urhobo Nation, describing him as a committed Pan-Urhobo leader with a sustained interest in the unity, progress and advancement of the ethnic nationality.

According to him, Amori’s commitment to the Urhobo cause has been complemented by an appreciation of the wider responsibility of building a peaceful, prosperous and united Delta State.

“As a committed Pan-Urhobo leader, you have consistently demonstrated an abiding interest in the unity, progress and advancement of the Urhobo Nation, while also appreciating the broader responsibility of building a peaceful, prosperous and united Delta State,” he said.

Dafinone further noted that Amori’s accessibility, continued engagement and responsiveness had helped sustain his political relevance and earned him “a distinctive place in the political history of Delta State.”

As the former Commissioner for Education and one-time senator marks his 74th birthday, Dafinone joined Amori’s family, friends, political associates and well-wishers in thanking God for his life and years of service.

He prayed Almighty God to grant Amori renewed strength, wisdom, sound health and many more years of purposeful service to Delta State, the Urhobo Nation and Nigeria.

“May the years ahead bring you greater fulfilment and provide even more opportunities to deploy your experience and influence in the service of humanity,” Dafinone added.
