A young man has been found unresponsive by the roadside opposite the DSC Roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, in an incident police are treating as a suspected suicide.
According to an entry at the Ebrumede Police Station, police received a distress call on Wednesday morning reporting that a young man was lying by the roadside and appeared to be in distress.
Following the report, police officers were immediately dispatched to the location, where they found the man unresponsive.
The police entry stated that an empty bottle believed to have contained insecticide was found near the deceased, prompting suspicion that he may have taken his own life.
The victim was subsequently rushed to the Government Hospital, Agbarho, for medical attention. However, he was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue, according to the police report.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, including the identity of the deceased and what may have led to his death, were not immediately clear.
Police are therefore appealing to members of the public who may know the deceased or his family to come forward with relevant information.
The police urged anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or locate his relatives to report to the Ebrumede Police Station.
