Uvwie Council begins demolition of illegal structures, motor parks July 1

Illegal structures and motor parks in Uvwie Local Government Area in Delta State are to be demolished from Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Chairman of Uvwie Council, Mr Ramson Onoyake, who gave the directive in a statement shortly after an emergency executive council meeting at the council’s secretariat in Effurun said owners of such illegal structures and motor parks have till the last Friday of June to remove them or face demolition.

According to the statement, an operation to keep Uvwie clean begins Wednesday next week with the Uvwie Council Chairman leading the health and environment departments, task force on traffic and environment for the operations.

The statement warned residents and traders in Effurun market and those dumping refuse on the median as well as other public places to patronize the Private Sector Participant PSP or face sanctions.

Places to be visited during the demolition exercise include Effurun roundabout, PTI road, Effurun market, PTI Express and Enerhen junction.

The statement also advised owners of shops and other traders in Uvwie to keep their surroundings clean as defaulters would have their shops sealed.

Meanwhile, Ramson Onoyake has summoned officials of the Private Sector Participant PSP for a meeting  on Tuesday at the local government secretariat in Effurun at 2pm.
