Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has urged Nigerians to remain resilient amid the economic difficulties facing the country, expressing optimism that the sacrifices associated with the ongoing reforms will eventually contribute to a stronger Nigeria.
Dafinone made the call in a statement issued to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, in which he felicitated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the people of Delta Central and Nigerians across the country.
The senator acknowledged the hardship being experienced by many Nigerians, but said the situation should not diminish the people’s hope for a better future.
“These are difficult times, but the emerging results of the Tinubu administration’s reforms should strengthen our resolve to persevere as the government works to restore stability, expand opportunities and improve the lives of our people,” Dafinone said.
His comments came against the backdrop of President Tinubu’s October 1 Independence Day address, in which the President said Nigeria had moved from the initial phase of economic reforms towards a focus on shared prosperity, jobs, production and improved living standards.
Dafinone urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country’s leadership and supporting the Federal Government’s policies as the nation navigates what he described as a period of economic adjustment.
Quoting the Bible, he said: “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning,” urging citizens to remain hopeful despite the present challenges.
The Delta Central lawmaker also called on residents of Delta State and the Delta Central Senatorial District to continue to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, stressing the importance of cooperation between the Federal Government and the state government.
According to him, such cooperation would be important in advancing development, attracting investment and creating greater opportunities for the people.
“Together, we can build a new Nigeria where peace prevails and every citizen has the opportunity to pursue and achieve their dreams,” he said.
Dafinone further expressed optimism that perseverance and unity would help the country overcome its current challenges, adding that “if we remain united and persevere through this difficult season, a brighter chapter lies ahead.”
He concluded his message by wishing Nigerians a happy Independence Day and praying for peace, prosperity and progress in Delta Central, Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
