AN OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR DELTA STATE RT. HON. SHERIFF FRANCIS OBOREVWORI

YOUR EXCELLENCY SIR,

THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION FOR UNENURHIE COMMUNITY PRESIDENT GENERAL AND OTHER OFFICES ELECTION CONDUCTED WITHOUT THE UNENURHIE COMMUNITY ENSHRINED CONSTITUTION SHOULD BE CANCELLED FOR A NEW ELECTION

I pray this letter finds you well and in good condition. I am writing this letter with a heavy heart. This is, to me, is the worst election ever since the inception of the Unenurhie community President General election. Even children in primary school would organize better. Unenurhie community, an autonomous community in Evwreni kingdom, is made up of two quarters: ENURHIE and URUWHERUN.

Okpavwaire Kingdom, Ilaya Williams and Adjene Clever were the three contestants for the post of President-General. The said was earlier scheduled for 22nd and later shifted to 27th February 2025 but postponed again which was finally rescheduled for 7th of March 2025 at the community town hall. The election was stipulated to be voted by Delegates and by the enshrined Unenurhie community constitution but we were deprived of our constitutional rights by Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Women Affairs, Youth and Community Development, Chief Kenneth Ukpebitere the President General Evwreni Clan Improvement Union and a six-man electoral committee chaired by Mr James Asigbe set up by the outgoing President General UCDU, Mr Peter Maison.

This was a pure display of IMPUNITY, IMPOSITION, NEGLECTING AND TOTAL DISREGARD of an enshrined constitution that is bidding and governing the community. This thing that was conducted in the name of the election is nothing short of shameful. I wonder how those who orchestrated this sleep at night? if they do I stand bold to say, they have a dead conscience. If this was the plan all along why allow hard-working loyal indigenes to waste their hard-earned resources to buy forms for the election? Your Excellency sir, at this moment our heart bleeds for this is pure barbaric and evil. We were encouraged to buy forms and contest but we were not given even the privilege to honourably lose at the election.

Your Excellency sir, the very essence of this open letter is to bring to your knowledge ( as we strongly believe you are not aware of all these happenings) we strongly appeal that you call them to order before a complete breakdown of law and order ( God forbids). While we thank you in earnest anticipation of fast positive response from you, please have the assurance of our high regards your Excellency sir.
