A group under the aegis of Movement for the Emancipation of Anioma Nation (MEAN) has passed a vote of confidence on Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North in the National Assembly.
The confidence vote was passed during a rally of the group held in Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The motion was moved by Hon. Mike Monye, General Secretary and seconded by Apostle Ayo Ashiedu, a development which was unanimously endorsed by all Anioma people at the rally in Agbor.
The rally which was attended by the nine local government areas coordinators pulled a crowd of people from across the Delta North Senatorial District to Alihama town hall in Agbor metropolis.
Speaking at the rally, the president of MEAN, Apostle Ayo Ashiedu said, “Our mission as a formidable organization is to advocate for a better life for our Anioma people.
“And for that to be possible in this present Nigeria, we have seen Senator Ned Nwoko to be the one chosen to make it happen. His moves at the Senate attest to that.
“We have seen the light in him. We have seen his desire for the growth and development of Anioma land. Hence, we have decided to stand by him.
“We hold Senator Nwoko in very high esteem because of his good representation. Ned Nwoko is our hero. An attack on Ned is an attack on MEAN.”
On the creation of Anioma state, Ashiedu said: “We have been agitating for the creation of Anioma state. We are in support of Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko in his agitation for the creation of Anioma state.
“MEAN is established to be a voice for the Anioma, advocating for human and capital development of the region.
“Delta North is marginalized in terms of infrastructure in this dispensation, hence the need to speak out and call for equity among the three senatorial districts of Delta state.”
He said the rally was organized to sensitise Anioma people on the need to support Senator Ned Nwoko and add their voice to the creation of Anioma state.
All the coordinators of MEAN from the nine local governments spoke and pledged their total support for Nwoko’s political aspirations for Delta North.
They vowed to go back to their respective local government areas and begin to mobilize support for Senator Ned Nwoko.
All participants eulogised Senator Nwoko and prayed that God would continue to protect and guide him from all evil. The event featured Anioma’s cultural attire and music.
The founder and national president of MEAN, Apostle Ayo Ashiedu, thanked all participants for attendance from far and near to grace the occasion and expressed their support for Ned in his struggle for the good of Anioma people.
