The people of Emadadja community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State have protested against the undue interference of the chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Chief Vincent Oyibode, in the leadership of the community.

Women, youths, and elders of the community during the protest appealed to the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, and other relevant security agencies to prevail on the Udu Council chairman to desist from actions capable of igniting unrest in the community over what termed was a transparent process that brought about the recent inauguration of the community executive led by Comrade Felix Igboboja.

The protesters in their numbers defied the heavy downpour last Friday morning to register their displeasure over alleged reports that the Udu Local Council boss, Chief Vincent Oyibode, alongside a former President General of Emadadja community, Chief Sunday Subi, were seeking to swear in their choice candidates as community executive, against the wish of the people.

The President General of Emadadja community, Comrade Felix Ighogboja, former President General of Emadadja community, Comrade Saviour Oghenekovhworo, Middle-aged people leader, Mr Joseph German, a woman leader, Mrs Taku, Ighororon, and others called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, the senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Hon. Ede Dafinone, the member representing Udu, Ughelli North, and Ughelli South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Ejiro Waive, and the member representing Udu constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Collins Egbetamah, to wade into the matter before the situation degenerates into uncontrollable situation thereby threatening the peace in the community.

They noted that the transition process from the previous executive led by Comrade Festus Oshemughe, to the election of individuals recommended by their families and quarters, to their inauguration on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the community Town hall, was credible and transparent and any form of external interference will jeopardize the peace in the community.

They also appealed to the peace-loving Governor of Delta State Oborevwori to quickly intervene as a similar interference during their 2003 executive transition resulted in bloodshed, leading to loss of lives and property and halting the development of the oil-rich community.
