The Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB), Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, has expressed profound joy over the safe return of the teachers and pupils who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing their release as a moment of thanksgiving and renewed hope for the state’s education sector.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, Adeniran thanked God for preserving the lives of the victims throughout their weeks in captivity and granting them a safe reunion with their families.
According to him, the successful rescue has brought relief not only to the affected families but also to teachers, pupils, school administrators and the wider education community across Oyo State.
“The return of our teachers and pupils is a source of immense joy for the entire education family in Oyo State. We give all glory to Almighty God for His protection and faithfulness throughout this difficult period,” Adeniran said.
He congratulated the rescued teachers and pupils, their parents, colleagues, classmates, education stakeholders and all residents who remained hopeful and prayerful while the victims were in captivity.
The OYOSUBEB chairman also conveyed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde, security agencies and other stakeholders for the coordinated efforts that culminated in the victims’ rescue.
“We sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and all security agencies whose commitment, professionalism and sacrifice made this successful outcome possible,” he stated.
Adeniran further acknowledged the support of religious leaders, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, media practitioners and well-meaning Nigerians who stood by the affected families through prayers, advocacy and words of encouragement.
He stressed the need for sustained collaboration among government, security agencies and communities to safeguard schools and protect children and education workers from criminal attacks.
While calling for continued prayers for lasting peace and security across Nigeria, Adeniran reaffirmed the commitment of the Oyo State Government and education stakeholders to strengthening measures that would ensure schools remain safe and conducive environments for teaching and learning.
“Once again, welcome home, our beloved teachers and pupils. The entire Oyo State education family is delighted to have you back safely,” he said.
