APC suffers another setback in Evwreni as Adjogbe receives decampees to PDP

By Felix Ekwu

The camp of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Evwreni Kingdom of Ughelli North Local Government Area in Delta State on Thursday further deflated following the defection of key mobilisers of the party in the area to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The defection of another set of APC members to the PDP from Evwreni Kingdom is a major setback to the rating of a founding leader of the APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, who hails from the kingdom and has struggled over the years to reclaim the control of the party structure in the state.

The APC decampees from Unenurhie Community of Evwreni ward 8 were won to the PDP by the recently appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe, who is a native of Evwreni Kingdom.

Top among the decampees were the Youth Chairman of Enurhie Quarters, Orunuaduvwe Godspower and the Youth Chairman of Urhuwherhu Quarters, Odophor Johnbull and others who were received into the fold of the PDP in Evwreni by Hon. Fidelis Adjogbe.

Receiving the decampees at the Unenurhie Community Town Hall, Adjogbe commended them for taking the bold step to dump the APC which has a faulty foundation and struggling to gain relevance in the political space of Delta State through blackmails and unfounded promises.

Adjogbe said, “I can confidently tell you that it would be difficult for the APC to win Delta in the 2023 general elections because the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in the state in the past seven years has done very well to alleviate poverty through various youth and women training and empowerment programmes and infrastructural development dotting the entire landscape of the state.

“Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, who by the grace of God is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would no doubt leave an enduring legacy of setting Delta on the right of sustainable development when he exits power as governor in 2023.”

Adjogbe, who until recently pitched a tent with the PDP in the state was an aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly primary for Ughelli North Constituency One assured the APC decampees that under the PDP in Delta Evwreni Kingdom would be carried along in the scheme of things in the state.

The decampees pledged their total allegiance and support to the PDP and the Okowa-led administration of the state promising to work to ensure the victory of the party in the 2023 general elections.
