Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr Michael Tidi has described the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III as a young, vibrant king, brimming with ideas that will facilitate a positive transformation of the area.

Speaking shortly after the colourful ceremony that followed the coronation of the monarch, Dr. Tidi explained that the Olu started on a good note by reversing the curse placed on the country by his grandfather.

He noted that by reversing the curse, Ogiame Atuwatse III has opened the way for greater unity, peace and progress on Nigeria, the Kingdom and everyone in it.

Similarly, the Warri Rebirth Initiative has said the peaceful and colourful coronation was an indication of good things to come in the metropolis and among the Itsekiri people.

Speaking during the ceremony, the chairman of Warri Rebirth Initiative, Kes Agbosa and Publicity Secretary, Patrick Origho, said the Initiative looked forward to better socio-economic fortunes under Ogiame Atunwatse the third.

They congratulated the people of Iwere land for showcasing their magnificent cultural heritage and expressed the belief the peace and unity started in the area during the reign of Atuwatse the second and Ogiame Ikenwoli would be built upon and taken to a higher level.

Radio Delta News correspondents at the ceremony reported that there were positive reactions from Deltans at the coronation which attracted thousands of dignitaries from all walks of life.

Ogiame Atuwatse III went through all traditional rites as required by the customs and tradition of the Itsekiri people and was eventually crowned as the 21st Olu of Warri at Ode Itsekiri, the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people.

The monarch in his address promised to see everyone equally and pledged to carry the women along. He charged the youths to diversify their economic prospects and look beyond oil.

The coronation attracted traditional rulers from across Nigeria including the Ooni of Ife, King Jaja of Opobo as well as a representative of the Oba of Benin.
