The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has felicitated with the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on two prestigious awards presented to him at the weekend by Independent Newspapers.
Rt Hon Oborevwori was honoured with the “Governor of the Year on Urban Renewal” and “Outstanding Governor of the Year” awards at the ceremony held in Lagos.
In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Speaker described the double recognition as well-deserved, saying the honours are a testament to the Governor’s visionary leadership, commitment to infrastructural transformation, and people-centred governance.
Rt. Hon. Guwor, on behalf of his family, the good people of Warri South West, and the entire Delta State House of Assembly, heartily congratulated the Governor on the national honour and expressed optimism that the awards will spur him to greater service.
“These awards are not just plaques. They are a validation of the massive urban renewal drive, road infrastructure revolution, and human capital development initiatives that have defined the administration of His Excellency, our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, under the MORE Agenda”, he said.
The Speaker noted that from Warri-Effurun, Asaba, Sapele, Ughelli, Ogbe-Ijoh, Agbor, Bomadi, Burutu, Okerenkoko, Koko, Ogidigben, Kwale, Obiaruku, Patani, Oghara to other major cities and towns in Delta State, the impact of the Governor’s urban renewal policy is visible, restoring aesthetics, easing traffic, boosting commerce, and improving the quality of life for Deltans.
Guwor added that the Outstanding Governor of the Year award further affirms Rt Hon Oborevwori’s inclusive leadership style, fiscal discipline, and peaceful engagement with all segments and interests of the state.
“His Excellency have shown that governance is about touching lives. The bridges, the roads, the drainage projects, the flyovers, and the renewed confidence in the government are speaking very loudly and clearly in his favour. All of us in the Legislature are proud to be partners in this progress”, Guwor stated.
The Speaker assured Governor Oborevwori, who is the immediate past Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, of continued support and collaboration of the House in delivering the dividends of democracy to every ward and community in the state.
Rt Hon Guwor emphasised that Deltans are witnessing a new era of development, even as he prayed to God to grant the Governor more wisdom, strength, and grace to finish strong.
