Leaders, elders, women and youths from Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Local Government Areas have called on former lawmaker, Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi, to contest the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The call was made during an enlarged gathering of party faithful held in Ughelli over the weekend.
At the meeting, participants also endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for second terms in office.
Speaking on behalf of the three local government areas, Chief Gabriel Ojoba (Ughelli North), Chief Macaulay Dase (Ughelli South), and Elder Gabriel Ighosueta (Udu) said the decision to urge Ahwinahwi to run was based on his experience and capacity to represent the constituency effectively.
They noted that at a critical time in the nation’s development, both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori require experienced and committed lawmakers to support policies that will strengthen governance and consolidate ongoing achievements.
According to them, after careful consideration, Ahwinahwi stands out as the most qualified candidate, with the political strength, experience and network needed to deliver effective representation for the constituency.
Leaders of political pressure groups also threw their weight behind the call. Among them were Mr Emmanuel Esesiobe of Unique Ambassadors for Good Governance, Chief Duke Arhere of U-3 Crusaders, and the General Manager of Delta Queens Football Club, Hon Mercy Awana-Alakis. They described Ahwinahwi as a dependable leader whose track record and commitment make him best suited to improve representation in the Constituency.
The motion endorsing President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for second terms, alongside the call for Ahwinahwi to contest in 2027, was moved by former Ughelli South Council Chairman, Mr Monday Emuvakpor. It was seconded by Chief Bestman Iteveh and put to a voice vote by Chief George Ushere.
The motion was unanimously adopted by all participants at the gathering.
