Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended warm felicitations to former First Lady of Delta State, Dame Edith Okowa, on her 65th birthday, and elder statesman and renowned administrator, Chief Mike Adiotomre, on his 88th birth anniversary.
In separate congratulatory messages issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor praised both personalities for their outstanding contributions to the development, peace, and well-being of Delta State.
Congratulating Dame Edith Okowa, wife of immediate past Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor Oborevwori described her as a compassionate humanitarian whose life and service have positively impacted countless individuals across the state and beyond.
He commended her commitment to humanitarian causes through the 05 Initiative Foundation, noting that the organisation transformed lives through healthcare interventions, empowerment programmes, and support for vulnerable groups.
The governor particularly acknowledged her efforts in championing the welfare of persons living with sickle cell disorder, including the establishment of sickle cell clinics in hospitals across Delta State and the provision of healthcare support and livelihood opportunities for the less privileged.
According to him, Dame Okowa’s dedication to service and care for the vulnerable has earned her admiration and respect, while her contributions remain enduring legacies that continue to benefit society.
“On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I heartily congratulate Her Excellency, Dame Edith Okowa, as she marks her 65th birthday. May the Almighty continue to bless her with good health, long life, and renewed strength to continue her selfless service to humanity,” the governor stated.
Governor Oborevwori also celebrated Chief Mike Adiotomre, describing the APC chieftain, elder statesman, and member of the Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council as a distinguished public servant whose commitment to truth, integrity, and selfless service has earned him admiration across the state.
The governor noted that Adiotomre has remained a respected voice of wisdom and moderation, contributing significantly to peacebuilding, political stability, and community development in Delta State.
He said the octogenarian’s distinguished career in public service and dedication to political development had established him as one of the state’s most respected leaders.
“As a state, we are proud of your unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and selfless service. You have continued to offer invaluable leadership and guidance to your community, Delta State, and the nation at large,” Oborevwori said.
The governor prayed for continued good health, strength, peace, and fulfilment for the celebrants, thanking them for their enduring contributions to the growth and progress of Delta State.
He urged Deltans to continue drawing inspiration from the values of service, compassion, integrity, and leadership exemplified by both Dame Edith Okowa and Chief Mike Adiotomre.
