Nani Applauds Oborevwori for Stepping In to Rescue the Failed Mosogar-Oghara Stretch of Warri-Benin Highway

The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Obukowho Nani, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for ordering an emergency intervention on the failed Mosogar-Oghara section of the Warri-Benin Highway, describing the move as a timely demonstration of responsive leadership and compassion for the people.

Nani, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and a leading stakeholder from Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area, said the governor’s decision had brought renewed hope to thousands of commuters, transporters, business owners and residents who rely daily on the strategic federal highway.

In a statement on Thursday, the DESOPADEC Chairman noted that although the Warri-Benin Highway falls under the responsibility of the Federal Government, Governor Oborevwori chose to act in the overriding interest of the people rather than allow motorists and commuters to continue enduring untold hardship on the failed Mosogar-Oghara axis.

According to him, the emergency intervention underscores the governor’s commitment to putting the welfare of Deltans above politics and jurisdictional boundaries.

“The Governor has once again shown that leadership is ultimately about responding to the needs of the people. While the Warri-Benin Highway is a federal road, he has refused to stand by and watch our people suffer daily on one of the busiest transport corridors in the country,” Nani said.

He observed that the failed stretch had, for months, subjected commuters and commercial drivers to hours of gridlock, vehicle breakdowns, avoidable economic losses and increased transportation costs.

“As someone from Ethiope West Local Government Area, where Oghara, Idjerhe and Mosogar are located, I appreciate the enormous relief this intervention will bring to our people and to every Nigerian who uses this important highway. This is a decision that reflects empathy, courage and a genuine commitment to public service,” he stated.

Nani further praised the mobilisation of the contractor to the site, expressing optimism that the emergency repairs would quickly restore smoother vehicular movement pending the comprehensive reconstruction of the road by the Federal Government.

He urged motorists and residents to cooperate with construction workers to ensure the intervention is completed without unnecessary delays.

“The economic importance of this corridor cannot be overstated. It connects communities, supports businesses and facilitates the movement of petroleum products, agricultural produce and other essential goods. Every effort to make the road motorable is an investment in the economy and in the well-being of our people,” he added.

The DESOPADEC Chairman also lauded the growing synergy between the Delta State and Federal Governments in addressing critical infrastructure needs, saying such collaboration remains essential to accelerating development across the state and the Niger Delta.

He reaffirmed his support for initiatives that improve the quality of life of residents, stressing that responsive governance should always transcend political affiliations whenever the welfare of the people is at stake.
