The 5th edition of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice annual peace and unity quiz and essay competition also known as Mulade Sheriff Peace, Unity Quiz and Essay Competition for rural/riverine communities in Delta State has been slated for 3rd of March, 2021.

CEPEJ, is a non-governmental and non-profit-making organisation, with a mandate to enhance peace, environmental cohesion in Nigeria and beyond.

The primary aim and objectives of the competition are to promote child education in the rural and riverine areas of Warri and its environs as well as promote peaceful coexistence among ethnic groups in the areas.

The initiative was introduced by Comrade Sheriff Mulade, who is the Ibe -Sorumonwei (Kingdom Promoter) of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government of Delta State and also the Chief Executive Officer of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, with offices across Nigeria and affiliated practices in other countries.

In a chat with newsmen in Asaba, Mulade said the annual competition is his personal commitment to the improvement of education, through the enhancement of reading culture.

He stated further that It was instituted to ensure that the children are equipped to become better citizens or leaders as well as fostering peace and unity through education amongst the rural/riverine Ijaws, Itsekiris and Urhobo communities of Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.

While disclosing the positive results from the competition so far, Mulade called on government at all levels to join hands with civil society organisations such as the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), to expand the all-important educative programme to other local government areas in the state.

Meanwhile, the 2021 edition will hold at Hussey College Warri, with two categories comprising the Junior and Senior classes.

Major prizes will be clinched by winners in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions, while cash and other consolation prizes worth Millions of naira will be splashed on all participating schools.
