Chief Sheriff Mulade, winner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency, has dismissed as fake and fraudulent a social media statement alleging that he conceded defeat and endorsed another aspirant.
The campaign organisation of Mulade described the circulating publication as a deliberate attempt by political opponents to mislead party faithful and undermine the outcome of the party’s primary election.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of Team Chief Sheriff Mulade Campaign Organisation, Comrade Friday Ugedi, the campaign said the purported concession statement did not emanate from Mulade and should be disregarded by members of the public.
According to the statement, the controversial publication was allegedly authored by individuals unsettled by Mulade’s victory in the primary election and determined to create confusion within the party.
“The statement being circulated is entirely false, fraudulent and a calculated effort to deceive party members and the public. Chief Sheriff Mulade never at any point conceded defeat, withdrew from the race or endorsed any other aspirant,” Ugedi stated.
The campaign maintained that Mulade remains the duly elected winner of the NDC primary election for the Warri Federal Constituency and is fully committed to pursuing his aspiration.
Ugedi alleged that the misinformation campaign was being driven by political actors who were unable to accept the outcome of the primary election after what he described as a clear rejection by delegates across the constituency.
“Those behind this fabrication are desperately attempting to rewrite the outcome of a democratic process that was freely decided by delegates. No amount of propaganda can alter the mandate already given to Chief Sheriff Mulade,” he said.
The statement further noted that Mulade continues to enjoy widespread support among party members, youths, women and stakeholders across Warri North, Warri South and Warri South-West Local Government Areas.
The campaign expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of political misinformation and urged supporters to remain focused and avoid being distracted by unverified reports.
“We urge party faithful, supporters, stakeholders and the media to disregard the fake statement in its entirety. It did not originate from our campaign structure and does not reflect the position of Chief Sheriff Mulade,” Ugedi added.
Reaffirming confidence in the primary election outcome, the campaign insisted that the authentic results would withstand any scrutiny and remain valid.
“Our victory remains intact, our mandate remains valid and our aspiration remains firmly on course. No campaign of blackmail, forgery or misinformation can overturn the will of the delegates,” the statement concluded.
