Some leaders talk about change… and then there are those whose lives are change. Distinguished Senator Ede Omueya Dafinone is the kind of leader whose character, pedigree, and life story naturally translate into impactful public service, not just promises.
Born on 10 April 1962 in Lagos, Nigeria, Ede Dafinone comes from a family deeply rooted in service, education, and excellence.
He is the son of Late Chief (Senator) David Omueya Dafinone and Lady Mrs. Cynthia Dafinone, a family known for its remarkable heritage in accounting and public life. His father was not only a respected Senator in Nigeria’s Second Republic but also part of a family entry in the Guinness Book of Records for producing the highest number of chartered accountants from a single family, with Ede and his siblings continuing that tradition.
Growing up, Ede was nurtured in an environment that valued discipline, integrity, and intellectual curiosity. His upbringing instilled in him a deep respect for education and the dignity of hard work, values that later shaped his journey as a professional and public servant.

Senator Ede’s academic path took him from Corona School, Apapa and King’s College, Lagos to Rugby School, United Kingdom, culminating in a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Manchester and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Exeter. He also enhanced his business and leadership knowledge at the Lagos Business School.

Along the way, he became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, further building on his family’s distinguished legacy.
Before entering politics, Ede built a stellar career in finance and business. He worked internationally with Touche Ross & Co., London, and later became a Partner and Deputy Managing Partner at Crowe Dafinone, contributing to major corporate advisory, audit, and valuation projects. His leadership extended to board roles in major Nigerian firms, including NEXIM Bank, NEM Insurance Plc, and others, demonstrating both business acumen and a heart for community growth.
But while many succeed in business, what defines Ede Dafinone is his belief that leadership is about lifting others up. He entered politics with the conviction that governance must put people before self, a principle evident since his early involvement in the founding of Nigeria’s Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State (1998) alongside his father, and later as a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Today, as Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Ede Dafinone combines professional expertise, community service, and political stewardship in a way that is rare and deeply consequential.

He is known for being approachable yet principled, strategic yet humble, and always people-centered. His voice in the Senate reflects not just policy knowledge but a genuine connection to the aspirations of everyday Nigerians, especially the youths, women, farmers, and families of Delta Central.
This is not just a story of titles and positions, it is the story of a man shaped by family legacy, academic excellence, professional success, and an unshakeable belief that leadership must transform lives.
