Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday, April 12, 2026, unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, alongside other party candidates, for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was a highlight of the Unity and Reunification Rally at Oghara Township Stadium, which drew a large crowd of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters celebrating the restoration of peace and cohesion within the party.

Moving the motion, former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Halims Agoda, justified the call for continuity by pointing to the visible achievements of both the President and the Governor. He described Delta State as “a construction site,” citing ongoing infrastructural projects, improvements in healthcare and education, and sustained investment in human capital development.

“It is not fair to change a winning team,” Agoda declared, adding that the leadership of Governor Oborevwori has aligned with the constitutional mandate of government to ensure the security and welfare of the people. By the authority of party leaders and members across Ethiope West, he formally moved that President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, Hon. Ibori-Suenu, and other APC representatives be adopted as sole candidates for the 2027 elections.

The motion was seconded by Engr. Chief Emmanuel Ighomena emphasised that unity and continuity remain critical to the party’s growth and electoral success, drawing loud approval from the enthusiastic crowd.

Representing the Governor, Chief Paulinus Akpeki described the rally as both symbolic and historic, noting that it reflected deliberate efforts at reconciliation and renewed commitment to collective progress. He credited Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, wisdom, and dedication to peace for restoring unity within Ethiope West and across Delta State.

“What we are witnessing today is not by chance,” Akpeki stated. “It is the result of deliberate effort and genuine concern for the future of our party. The time for division is over. Ethiope West is too important to be divided—we must move forward together as one united family.”

Also speaking, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu described the gathering as historic, stressing that it marked the rebirth of a united political family. She called for genuine reconciliation, urging members to embrace sincere forgiveness and put past grievances behind them.

“This is not cosmetic reconciliation,” she said. “This is a call for true unity. We must forgive, rebuild trust, and work together. Only God can divide us now—no one else can.”

In his remarks, Chief Ighoyota Amori described the rally as a defining moment in the political history of Ethiope West, noting that the transition from division to unity would have a lasting impact on the party’s fortunes.

Other stakeholders, including Hon. Christian Onogba, Chief Champion Kpategi, Chief Dr. Wilson Omene, Hon. Hope Abijor, and Hon. Blessing Achioja, echoed similar sentiments, emphasising the need to sustain the newfound unity and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections.

Chief John Nani, in a passionate address, cautioned against using social media to sow division among party leaders. He urged members to desist from actions capable of undermining unity, stressing that discipline and loyalty are essential for the party’s continued progress.

“As we leave here, those who thrive on spreading discord must stop,” he warned. “We are one family now. Follow your leaders with sincerity and do not sow seeds of division.”

The rally ended on a strong note of solidarity, with leaders and supporters reaffirming their commitment to unity, discipline, and collective success. The overwhelming endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Dafinone, and other APC candidates underscored a renewed confidence in their leadership and a clear determination to consolidate the party’s gains in Delta State ahead of 2027.
