Operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) of the Delta State Police Command have apprehended a 42-year-old suspected notorious kidnapper, Chiadiji Collins, popularly known as “Smooth”, who has been on the police watchlist for his alleged involvement in multiple abductions across Delta State.

The arrest took place on Saturday, July 27, 2025, when operatives stormed his hideout along Ibusa Road near Asaba, following credible intelligence about kidnapping operations within the Ogwashi-Uku, Ubuluku, and Isseluku axis.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement, disclosing that the operation was led by ASP Julius Robinson in collaboration with operatives from the command’s X-Squad and Buffalo Patrol Teams.

Following his arrest, the suspect reportedly led operatives to his residence in Ewulu community, Aniocha South Local Government Area, where a search warrant was executed. During the search, one AK-47 rifle and forty (40) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition were recovered.

Preliminary investigations further led to the arrest of another suspect, Ezechie Andrew, from the same community.

Two pump-action guns and two live cartridges were recovered from him. Both men are believed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for a series of abductions across Ogwashi-Uku, Isseluku, and surrounding communities.

In a related development, on Wednesday, July 30, operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) carried out a successful raid on a criminal hideout at Big Gate, Campus III, Delta State University, Abraka.

Recovered items included a fabricated Beretta pistol with four live rounds of ammunition, a black cap with the insignia of the Eiye confraternity, and a battle axe.

The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Eiye cult group.

SP Edafe confirmed that all suspects are in custody and that investigations are ongoing.
