There are growing calls from key political stakeholders across Delta Central for Hon. Solomon Ahwinahwi to declare his intention to contest the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.

Though the former lawmaker is yet to formally announce his ambition, reliable sources indicate that consultations are ongoing, with several influential figures mounting pressure on him to step into the race.

In separate remarks, three notable political actors, Chief Miller Orido from Agbarho in Ughelli North LGA; Comrade Save Maka from Ughelli South LGA; and Chief Harrison Veta from Udu LGA commended Hon. Ahwinahwi’s track records in public service and grassroots engagement, describing him as a “tested and trusted leader” capable of delivering effective representation at the National Assembly.

Chief Orido noted that the constituency requires experienced hands with deep understanding of the people’s needs, adding that Hon. Chief Ahwinahwi possesses the political will, national connection and legislative insight to make a difference.

In the same vein, Comrade Maka emphasized the need for continuity and quality representation, urging the former legislator to heed the mounting appeals and pressure from constituents and political associates. He added that, if the recent reports on social media is anything to go by, then “that’s the way to go”.

For his part, Chief Veta described Hon. Ahwinahwi as an experienced political rallying point whose entry into the House of Representatives race would galvanize support across the three local council areas.

According to many observers, the rising endorsements may soon compel Chief Ahwinahwi to make his position known even as political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections have begun to gather momentum.

As at the time of filing this report, Hon. Chief Solomon Ahwinahwi has neither confirmed nor denied his interest in the race but close allies suggest that a formal declaration may be imminent.
