For thousands of candidates who have spent weeks refreshing phones and checking for updates, the wait for the 2026 NECO Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results now has a date attached to it.
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that the results of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination will be officially released on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
According to a notice on the planned release, the announcement will take place at the Council’s headquarters on Km 8, Bida Road, Minna, Niger State. Recent reports also confirm the September 24 release date and the 11:00 a.m. schedule.
The development comes after NECO apologised on September 20 to candidates and other stakeholders over the delay in releasing the results.
The Council had appealed for patience and said the results were at the final stage of processing and could be released at any moment.
The delay followed an earlier expectation that the results would be available by the first week of September.
According to a report published after the missed deadline, NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi, had previously indicated that the results could be ready by the first week of September or earlier.
The 2026 SSCE Internal examination commenced on June 15 and was scheduled to run until July 23, according to the official NECO examination timetable.
The results are particularly important to candidates participating in the 2026/2027 tertiary admission process, especially those awaiting their O’Level grades for screening, documentation and other admission requirements.
Once the results are released, candidates will be able to access them through NECO’s official result-checking platform.
The Council’s results portal requires candidates to select the examination year and type, enter their result-checking token and registration number, and then select the option to check their result.
Candidates are advised to rely on NECO’s official channels and result portal rather than unverified social media information as they await Thursday’s announcement.
