63 senior staff of Delta Assembly undergo promotion exercise

A two-day promotion exercise for sixty-three Senior Staff of Delta State House of Assembly, Wednesday commenced in Asaba the State Capital, with the Acting Chairman of the State Assembly Service Commission, Mr Sunday Ebirere presiding.

Mr Ebirere who disclosed that the promotion interview is in line with the core mandate of the Service Commission, paid glowing tributes to the State Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori and the Speaker of the Delta State Assembly, Rt Hon Dennis Guwor for making promotions workers in the Assembly a top priority.

He said it was all smiles, jubilations and excitement when approval was given for no fewer than 63 staff of the Assembly to be promoted to the next cadre of service, stressing

Mr Ebireri flanked by the Secretary of the Commission, Barr Austin Uwasike and other members of the Service Commission, said the affected officers, majority of whom are top management Staff, would be elevated from Salary Grade Levels 14, 15, and 16 to their various corresponding levels in line with the extant public service rules.

The Acting Chairman noted that the exercise is in line with Governor Oborevwori’s administration’s poise towards ensuring regular and prompt promotion of workers in the State.

He commended the Governor, for what he described as his magnanimity and goodwill in ensuring that funds for the exercise were approved and released in time.

Mr. Ebireri also commended the Speaker of the State legislature, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor for facilitating the release of funds for the exercise just as he lauded members of the commission for their diligence and commitment to duty.

He noted that the Commission will not fail in carrying out its responsibility as members are committed to ensuring staff welfare in line with the MORE Agenda, stating that all those due for promotion will be promoted as and when due.

“Conducting this exercise is one of the core mandates of the Commission as we are saddled with the responsibility of recruitment, Promotion, Training and Discipline of Staff of the Legislative arm of the Delta State Government.

“This exercise is unique in the sense that most of the staff to be interviewed are very senior management who have reached the zenith of their careers.

“The commission, as usual, is partnering with the Directorate of Establishment and Pensions of the Delta State Civil Service in ensuring a seamless process that is in line with the extant public service rules”, Ebireri said

Speaking in an interview, some of the affected staff expressed joy over their proposed elevation just as they commended the State Governor and the Speaker for approving the process.

They noted that the planned elevation is important to them as it would go a long way in enhancing their productivity in the service.

The respondents also thanked the Acting Chairman of the Commission as well as members for making sure staff are promoted in due time, stating that the promotion will motivate them to put in their best.
