The Chairman of Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation, EGCDF, in Delta State, Comrade Jude Ebidimi Ukori, has warned Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL, that none of their indigenes should be affected in the company’s “redundancy moves”.

Comrade Ukori said this in an address he presented at the 10th Annual General Meeting of Egbema & Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation which held at Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area.

He said, “We cannot stop Chevron in their Redundancy. But in your redundancy, none of our persons should be affected. We are already in a disadvantaged position.”

According to him, should it happen, it will not be palatable for the multinational oil giant and the people.

Comrade Ukori, noted that the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities contribute peace in addition to their oil and smooth operations of the Chevron hence their people cannot be denied of their rightful place.

In a similar vein, the Delta State Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro has urged the management of Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL to commence employment of indigenes of Egbema and Gbaramatu Kingdoms in its operations.

Deacon Otuaro who was represented by the Delta State Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba, said the call became necessary especially as the price of crude oil has gradually increased to 50 dollar per barrel in the international market.

Otuaro said, this will help to sustain the existing peace in the area.
