Why FG should renew pipeline surveillance contract with Tatitan Security – Urhobo Youth Council

President of Urhobo Youth Council (UYC) Worldwide, Comrade Godspower Enerho has called on the federal government to renew the security contract it has with Tatitan Security.

Enerho in a statement noted that the involvement of the private security company in the surveillance of oil pipelines to prevent theft in the Niger Delta region has ensured a tremendous increase in the nation’s daily oil production from around 700 bpd to well over a million as well as a reduction in weekly loses from 4.8million barrels to about 1.4million.

“Perhaps, the best gift the administration of President Buhari gave to Nigeria in general and the South in particular was the involvement of Tatitan security in the surveillance of our pipelines.

“Oil theft has greatly reduced and the nation’s production tremendously improved. This means more money for our country.

“Added that, the seemingly unabated degradation of our soil and pollution of our environment has been drastically brought to a halt in the last year as the activities of oil bunkerers have been inhibited in no small measure,” he said.

The UYC President stated that the success of Tatitan in guarding the nation’s oil resources in the past year has hugely hinged on the fact that this is the first time that the youths and other relevant stakeholders have actually been truly engaged.

According to him, “Previously, those who got similar contracts did not really engage youths and stakeholders or even commit to actually doing the job. But this time, in every community, youths and other critical stakeholders are fully engaged and equipped to do the job”.

He further noted that prior to the involvement of Tatitan security, the country had literally been brought to its knees by the activities of oil thieves, causing weekly loss of about 4.8 million barrels who certainly will try to fight the renewal of the contract with Tatitan.

“We reckon that these bunkerers and their collaborators will throw in as many punches as they can in blackmailing and lobbying against the renewal of the contract but we call on the relevant authorities including the National Security Adviser and NNPCL to ignore their ploy and remain unwavering in their resolve to get the Nigerian oil sector working again,” said Enerho.

He also urged the federal government to be aware that the entire Niger Delta, especially ethnic nationality leaders, were firmly behind Tatitan security.
