The incumbent Chairman of Warri South Local Government in Delta State, Dr Michael Tidi, has declared his intention to contest the Warri South Constituency II seat in the state legislature in the 2023 general elections.

Dr Tidi and his supporters on Sunday, April 17, 2022, were at the secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Esissi Road, Warri, where he announced his aspiration for the position.

The party secretariat was agog as Tidi accompanied by his wife Juliet, his father, Mr Joshua Tidi, Director-General of Team Dr Tidi, Honourable Taiye Duke and other supporters were received by the Mr Johnson Agbeyegbe led executive of the party in the area.

While informing the party of his intention to vie for the Warri South Constituency II seat Tidi described himself as a servant leader and one who is very passionate about the development of the area.

According to him, he does not want to stay aloof and complain about the near absence of quality representation of the constituency in the State Legislature hence he has decided to make himself available for service to the people.

He appealed to the party delegates to embrace capacity competence, antecedents and pedigree in arriving at their decision on who to fly the party’s flag for the Constituency Two House of Assembly election in the 2023 general elections.

Tidi who noted the near absence of quality representation of the constituency in the State House of Assembly said, “People like us in the academics when we see a gap we make attempt to fill it. I have no local government I call my own than Warri South Local Government Area.

“I believe my area of strength is in legislature, articulation. I am a true party man. There is a dearth of representation and robust representation in the House of Assembly.

“This a transition period. Every other local government they are shopping for their best to go to the House. I have the exposure, education, reach and dexterity to do the job. I came prepared. I have long been preparing for the position. It is the person who can represent us creditably that we should send to the House,” Tidi emphasized.

While praying for and wishing Dr Michael Tdi success in his aspiration, the Warri South PDP Chairman, Mr Johnson Agbeyegbe particularly praised him for delivering on his candidate as Chairman of Warri South Local Government.

Agbeyegbe said, “I must confess that this is the first of its kind in terms of those that have been coming to declare here. I personally did not expect the least because I know who was coming to visit us.

“The chairman (Tidi) has spoken and for those us that have been following the trend of things in this local government if you understand the complexity of Warri South, for a man to sit on that seat for two days you will praise that man.

“And of course, our chairman is a very young and vibrant man. When it comes to the issues of governance in this local government, in fact, in the state at large, people want to copy him. I commend him.

“For those of us that have been following up the trend of politics in this local government, you will agree with me that when he came in to represent us as chairman during our campaigns, it was attested to that he is not a bad product. And we know what he has done from that time till now.

“I personally want to salute his courage because it is not all young men that even have such courage to venture into politics and then make a strong voice for others to emulate.

“I believe going along with our excos and our party faithful we don’t doubt your capacity. We have strong faith in you because you have proven to us that you can represent us. If you are talking about digital approach, you are there, scientific approach, you are there. You are fit for the job.”
