All is set for the formal defection of Dr. Michael Tidi, former Chairman of Warri South Local Government and immediate past State Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Delta State Caretaker Committee, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, Sunday.
The defection ceremony is scheduled to take place at 12 noon at Rice Farm, by Esisi Bridge, Warri, where Tidi is expected to officially join the APC alongside members of his political structure and supporters.
Dr. Tidi, a former aide to ex-Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, had remained with the PDP even after the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other key stakeholders to the APC in 2025.
His decision to now switch allegiance marks another notable shift in Delta State’s evolving political landscape.
Until his resignation, Tidi played a strategic role within the PDP as State Secretary of the party’s caretaker committee and is widely regarded as a grassroots mobiliser in Warri South Local Government Area.
Today’s event is expected to attract APC leaders, party faithful, and political observers, with the defection being described by organisers as part of a broader call to “join the progressives” and strengthen the APC’s base in Delta South Senatorial District.
The defection rally begins promptly at 12 noon, with party leaders expected to formally receive Dr. Tidi and his supporters into the APC.
