Tinubu Reshuffles Key Agencies, Hands Ayo Fayose REA Chairmanship in 26 Fresh Appointments

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 new officials intoto boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, announced on Monday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.

Fayose will chair the board of the REA alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors.

The board also retains the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and its serving executive directors.

In another major appointment, President Tinubu named retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission, while former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the commission.

The President also appointed Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) as members and commissioners of the commission.

In the electricity sector, Dr Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), while Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin emerged as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission.

At the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), Ilorin, Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer, succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

The President equally constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.

Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

For the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

In the Federal Housing Authority, Gisaor Vincent Iorja was appointed Executive Director (Finance), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue the Benue State governorship.

President Tinubu also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his previous role as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve institutional effectiveness and reposition strategic government agencies for efficient service delivery.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced 26 new appointments into 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions,” Onanuga said in the statement.

He added that “all the appointments take immediate effect.”
