The Chairman of the Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Professor Emmanuel Tibi, has attributed the recent global triumph of Delta State public school students at the World Debate Competition in Doha, Qatar, to the unwavering commitment and investment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the state’s education sector.

Speaking to journalists in his office in Asaba, Professor Tibi hailed the students’ outstanding performance, noting that their emergence as world champions was a direct reflection of the Governor’s transformative policies under the MORE Agenda. The students represented Nigeria at the competition and outclassed their peers from across the globe.

“This landmark achievement is not by accident. It is the result of deliberate and sustained investment in education by the Oborevwori-led administration. The Governor has continued to demonstrate his unwavering love and commitment to the growth of the secondary education system in Delta State,” Tibi said.

He commended the students for their brilliance and for being worthy ambassadors of the state on the international stage, describing their victory as a source of pride for all Deltans.

Professor Tibi also expressed deep appreciation to the State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, school principals, and teachers for their dedicated efforts in driving academic excellence in public schools. He encouraged teachers across the state to maintain the momentum and strive for even greater accomplishments.

The PPEB Chairman further highlighted the importance of the ongoing capacity-building workshop for top management staff and school principals across Delta’s senatorial districts.

He thanked Governor Oborevwori for approving the training and urged beneficiaries to apply the knowledge gained to their duties for the overall benefit of the education sector.

“This training is a vital step in strengthening our management and teaching systems. Participants must reciprocate this opportunity by enhancing their professional output and contributing meaningfully to the advancement of our schools,” he emphasised.

Commenting on the 2025 Civil Service Week organised by the Office of the Head of Service, where 11 PPEB staff competed in the state-wide quiz competition with two emerging as overall best and runner-up, Professor Tibi described the success as a testament to the Board’s commitment to excellence and diligence.

He urged all school heads, teachers, and Board staff to continue working collectively to move the education sector forward, reaffirming that they are all partners in progress with a shared responsibility to build a better future for Delta’s youth.
