Okowa sends Askia, Nani, Mayuku back to DESOPADEC after PDP primaries

Bashorun Askia Ogieh, has been sworn in by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the second time as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.

Ogieh had resigned his position to seek the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Isoko Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections but failed in the party’s primary as he lost to Jonathan Ukodhiko.

Also sworn in for the second time to the Commission were Chief John Nani and Hon Daniel Mayuku.

Nani who was the Commission’s Executive Director, Finance and Administration resigned to contest the PDP Delta Central Senatorial primary but lost to Senator Ighoyota Amori.

While Mayuku who was the Executive Director, Projects of the Commission resigned to become the PDP National Delegate for Warri South-West Local Government Area.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that their swearing-in was performed behind closed doors at the new Government House, Asaba, the state capital.

They were sworn in by Governor Okowa after they were screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday.
