Police intensify manhunt for suspects charged with murder, arson, rape at Ogwashi-Uku in Delta

Crack detectives are on a serious manhunt for fugitives from justice who police want for crimes of murder, rape, grievous assault, arson and a plethora of other crimes in Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the need for the police to upscale their hunt for the suspects comes on the heels of the completion of their two-year-long investigation and after a review by the Director of Public Prosecution at the Attorney General’s office in the state.

All the fugitives have been determined to have these very serious cases to answer. Most of them have absconded and have refused to come to court to answer their charges.

One of the suspects was recently apprehended after being trailed by detectives from the State CID.

The suspected mastermind and kingpin, Mr Ugo Emordi aka dirty harry has been charged to court and remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Center.

Other suspects at large whose names have just been released, include Anthony Nwadiuba, Emmanuel Egbe Okelue, Augustine Nkwo, Emmanuel Nwani, Emmanuel Okocha, Udine Okelue, Andrew Nwafor Ajiduah, Ifechukwude Ikenweji, Uche Ikenweji, Elue Nwaolise, Ifeanyi Nwaolise, Nonyai Ubaka, Iloba Obata, Bernard Osamor, Destiny Osamor, Nosike Okelue, Henry Okocha, Ogoni Ubaka, Okolie Osadebe, Eshabu Ajiduajh, Felix Ngbanwa and many others.

Some of the charges that the suspects and a current serving ACP face include: Conspiracy to commit armed robbery, punishable under S. 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearm Act 2004 (as amended ); Armed Robbery, punishable under S, 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearm Act 2004. Arson, punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C2) Vol 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

Conspiracy to commit murder, punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21 Volume 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006; and Murder, punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law Cap C21. Volume 1 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria. 2006.

The incident which was traced back in the community since June 2021, saw youths loyal to the ACP and other well-placed members of the Azungwu community in Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom attack the Odogwu (warlord) of the community over a Chieftaincy dispute.

In the process, three houses, livestock, farm and two vehicles, all worth over N500m and belonging to the Odogwu, Chief Gabriel Ohai, were set ablaze, while other properties were looted.

The incident was said to have left scores injured and houses razed, as well as claimed the life of an aged man in the community who was beaten to death by the mob.

Dependable sources told this medium that the police have therefore urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the fugitives to immediately inform the nearest police station or contact the Special Investigation Bureau in the Police Headquarters Asaba, Delta State
