Onoyake bows to pressures, disbands traffic control taskforce in Uvwie

The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Mr Ramson Onoyake disbanded the Taskforce on Traffic Control in the council area.

The decision to strip members of the taskforce of their duties with immediate effect NewsNet Nigeria learnt stemmed from series of complaints by vehicle owners and tricycle operators in the locality.

Member of the taskforce who put on a green shirt and black trouser had been a turn in the flesh of motorists and tricycle operators despite warnings by the chairman of Uvwie Council, Mr Ramson Onoyake.

Speaking to members of the disbanded traffic personnel at the Council’s Secretariat in Effurun, Onoyake recalled how he told them that they would be dissolved the same way if they ran foul of the law.

He asked the chairman of the Task Force, Chief Lucky Orode and the dissolved members of the taskforce not to go near their office and ordered them to pull off their uniforms noting that they had abused the trust reposed in them.

The Uvwie Council chairman also asked the Environment Task Force headed by two chairmen not to allow members of the disbanded traffic taskforce to get near them but to perform their duties of cleaning the environment.

Vice chairman of Uvwie Local Government, Mr Henry Biyibi, Leader of Uvwie Legislative Arm, Honourable Gabriel Obodo, Councillors and some council staff were present when the hammer fell on the Traffic Taskforce personnel.
