One dies as 2 friends fight over N300 electricity bill in Warri

Just when football fans particularly in Africa on Wednesday were sobering over France’s ousting of Morocco from the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup, two friends in Warri, Delta State, were busy fighting over Three Hundred Naira meant for payment of electricity bills where reside.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that after the football match around 10pm the two male friends, Godstime Oke and Gaga Allia, both of whom reside in one room apartment at 32 Oleh Street, Okumagba Layout, Warri, had a heated argument over the N300 electricity bill that resulted in a fight which led to the death of Gaga Allia.

Godstime Oke was said to have stabbed Gaga Allia in his neck region and thereafter fled to Ugborikoko area, neighbouring to Warri but was caught on Thursday.

Godstime Oke who is a native of Okpe kingdom however survived being mobbed as he was handed over to men of the Nigeria Police Force ‘B’ Division in Warri.

In a video sighted by NewsNet Nigeria, Godstime Oke narrated that they have a light issue in their area and he was the one collecting the money for their compound.

According to the suspect, a tenant paid N300 to his deceased friend when he was not around and when he came back he asked to give him the money since he had already paid for their apartment but he refused.

He said during the fight that ensued between the two of them one of his friends Tega, who was around broke a bottle and gave him with which he used to stab to death Gaga Allia.

At the time of filing this report, efforts were still being made to apprehend Tega, the alleged accomplice.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
